Can You Afford to Get Old?  Karen Finucan Clarkson writes an article about living a healthy, happy lifestyle in retirement for the Southern Maryland Newspapers, Southern Maryland Health 2012 Winter Edition on page 6.  I would like to thank Karen for letting me contribute to her informative and timely article.  Southern Maryland Heath 2012 Winter Edition. Jan. 2012.   The article is also posted on my Linked profile page.

Bank foreclosure settlement could be costly for future home-buyers.  Anna Maria Andriotis writes banks having been building reserves in anticipation of the settlement, which has led to less money available to home-buyers.  Now with the settlement and anticipated losses to banks for write-offs, mortgage loans may be more difficult, expense to obtain.  If this potential risk actually develops in the coming months, it would be a negative for home-buyers and the housing market recovery.  Smart Money Blog. 9 Feb. 2012.
Future Business Leaders - Our grandchildren, children.  Congratulations to all students of Calvert, Huntingtown, Northern, North Point, McDonough and Patuxent High Schools who competed at the  Maryland Future Business Leaders of America regional conference at Northern High School in Owings, Maryland.    ”Leadership is the challenge to be something more than average,” a John Rohn quote printed on conference materials.   Yesterday, I had the honor of sitting on a panel of judges for the Business Ethics team competition. Participation from St. Mary’s County grew and beginning this year the county has its own regional 4 conference.   I thoroughly enjoy meeting the students and judging the competition.  Some of the students from region 7 and 4 will go onto state and national competitions – I wish them all the best of luck as they represent the future business leaders of Southern Maryland.  I hope to see Lackey, La Plata, and Thomas Stone participate next year.  It’s a great opportunity for our grandchildren, children.
